Hot Health Careers Most People Know Nothing About:

While hospitals may not be hiring during this economic downturn, there are some hot jobs that will provide you security in the healthcare industry. Among the most appealing health care careers, you can find these employees who enjoy their jobs and want to keep them.

The California Wellness Foundation funded a survey to see whether health care offers job security, family-sustaining wages and professional satisfaction. Jobs such as medical assistants and pharmacy and emergency-medicine technicians offer this type of security. They are known as allied health profesions in the health care industry.

All you need to enter most of these jobs is a two-year degree or a licensing program. Others may require more years of study.

Doctors Trained to Prescribe Drugs, but not Exercise

Doctors Trained to Prescribe Drugs, but not Exercise

Various studies show that most western doctors are not trained or do not the incentives to prescribe exercise to their patients. Yet, they should regularly prescribe it as a way to lower blood pressure and prevent heart disease and diabetes, according to the American Heart Association on Monday June 23, 2003. Exercise often works well as drugs, yet doctors fail to advise patients to get off their sofas and walk, cycle or run, the group said, citing data from 44 different studies.

The American Heart Association and US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, among other groups, recommend 30 minutes or more of the moderate exercise such as brisk walking on most or all days of the week. One problem is that doctors are not trained in preventing disease, but only in treating it, said the director of preventive cardiology and cardiovascular research at Hartford Hospital in connecticut, who led the study leading to this report. "That is not the whole story here because a lot of stuff we are talking about here is not about prevention -it is about sick patients and making people feel better.

Doctors do not urge exercise because they are not reimbursed by insurers for exercise training. And drug companies spend millions to promote medicines and train doctors in their use, but no one does the same thing for exercise." Physicians can help patients improve cholesterol levels and blood pressure just by prescribing an exercise regimen.

Beat The Hard Economic Times with Job Security Found in Pharmacy School and Nursing...

Beat The Hard Economic Times with Job Security Found in Pharmacy School and Nursing...
There is no doubt that healthcare-related jobs offer job security. That is what many doctors, physicians, nurses an pharmacists have known over the years. Well, parents have known it too. They have encouraged their sons and daughters to go into such professions as law school and med school.
All over the country, pharmacists remain in short supply. And rural areas suffer the most. If you put in the time, if you stuck it out at Pharmacy school, the pay-off will be great for you and your family. Who can refuse the high signing bonuses that range in the $30,000 and more?
There is a strong competition between retail outlets and health-care facilities across the nation. It has been shown that to lure pharmacists, retailers are dangling incentives of all kinds. While nursing school offers stability, pharmacy schools offer great pay, stability and lots of perks such as offers of cars, signing bonuses, flexible work schedule etc.
It has been predicted that the shortage of pharmacists will continue for a long time due the aging baby boomer population that tends to live longer and thus requires more care and medication.
Retail stores such as Walgreens, Rite Aid and CVS want as many pharmacists as they can find. Kaiser Permanente and many local hospitals such as the Children's hospital network are trying hard to retain their workers and pharmacists.
Entering pharmacy schools will remain the best decision of your life.

High Enrollements Expected at California Community Colleges in Fields such as Nursing, Healthcare, Security etc...

After a decade of steady growth, the economic crisis has led to a spike in applications across all California community colleges. In September and October — one-third of the application period for the spring semester — the number of applicants who made a community college their first choice was already more than 20 percent greater than all of last year. In some fields, like health services, the growth has been even more rapid, as much as 40 percent on some campuses.

Knowing that California is facing a budget issue, interested parties are asking where they will find money to continue to offer these classes.

Parents and students are scared by the bad economic times. “How do you deal with a declining revenue base and more and more students wanting to come?” They are asking. “It is a difficult balance and we worry about it every day.”

Top Recession-proof Professions for a Bad Economy

Students are enrolling in huge numbers at local community colleges from California to New York. As the economy goes sour, more and more people want to find stability in professions such as teaching, nursing and security. So far, colleges have added nursing courses to accommodate the onslaught and high demand.

Students can not go wrong in health care. There are shortages of health professionals all over the country.

It's no surprise that one of the most stable industries - even when the economy is in poor shape - is health care. No matter what the state of the country, there will always be people in need of quality health care services.
Train to coordinate and plan the delivery of health care services with a health services administration or health care administration degree. Want to assist doctors and care for the sick? Consider a nursing diploma or degree program. Or prepare for a supporting role with a one-year dental assisting and short-term medical assisting programs.
The Pay Off: Medical assistants make an average of $13.59 an hour - over $28,000 annually. Dental assistants make an average of $15.52 an hour which can add up to about $32,000 annually. Registered nurses averaged over $62,000 per year in 2007. Medical and health services managers can make over $80,000 annually.
