Job Description (RN/LVN)
The RN Shift Supervisor assists the Administrator in providing direction in the development and evaluation of nursing personnel, and in maintaining operations of the patient care unit. Prescribes, delegates, and coordinates nursing care acting as resource for clinical issues involving the plan of care. Contributes to nursing and facilities mission through support of philosophy and objectives, educational efforts and research efforts. He/she performs as a peer role model for professional behavior and in demonstrating superior expertise in the delivery of nursing care, and oversight of all functions of the department during assigned shift. Performs other duties as required.
Shift time: NOC
The License Vocational Nurse job duties vary with employer and specialty but can be expected to include taking blood pressure and pulse rates, preparing and administering certain medications, giving injections, reporting adverse reactions to treatments, and monitoring patients. In addition, vocational nurses monitor catheters, give alcohol rubs and massages, apply ice packs, dressings, compresses, and hot water bottles, treat bedsores, maintain patient records and may be assigned various other tasks by the supervising nurse or doctor.
